Sian van Driel
I am a ceramic artist based in West Sussex, and since graduating from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design, I have had over three decades of experience in teaching ceramic within schools, colleges, evening classes and private lessons. Alongside this, I have exhibited locally, nationally and internationally in ceramics, oil and watercolour painting, charcoal drawings and paper sculpture. I have also received private and commercial commissions that have ranged from architectural garden sculptures to the floor labyrinth at Boxgrove Priory that subsequently featured in the Pevsner Architectural Guide. To compliment this, I have continued to develop my own ceramics and collections, which have included working with mixed coloured clays, porcelain and hand-built sculptural ceramic pieces.
Amy Marriott
Amy did a Masters Degree in Ceramics at Cardiff University, after a Psychology and Anthropology undergraduate degree. She then went on to work as an Account Director in a Creative Agency in London, but never forgot her clay loving roots. Amy now works with clay full time. As well as teaching a throwing course at 318 Ceramics, she teaches Ceramics and Art in a local school and also works as a Ceramic Technician.lay connects us to the earth. It’s therapeutic and I hope my students reap the benefits of this while exploring the endless possibilities of working in clay
Jane Henderson
Primarily I love hand building, working predominantly with crank which has a lovely gritty texture I combine it with various stoneware clays and porcelain. I like carving into the surface to reveal the texture or to inlay stripes of porcelain, as most of my work is for the garden I particularly like using dry glazes, engobes, and iron oxide, as it gives a naturalistic palette that sits quietly in the environment.
I feel privileged to be part of the Farnham pottery with it’s clay community, as a technician for West Street Potters and now as a tutor at 318.
