Description
This will be a skill-building day, focused on people who already have some throwing experience. My approach will be essentially a diagnostic one: I will observe your process carefully and between us we will identify areas that perhaps aren’t working as effectively or efficiently as you would like, and decide upon alternative ways in. The aim is to provide each participant with concrete, practical pointers to improve their wheel-throwing, with the aim of dynamic and purposeful clay handling, with efficiency, economy and—dare I say it—beauty at it’s core. After all, throwing is a beautiful process.
This will be a supportive and non-judgemental experience, where participants will be encouraged to ‘push’, wherever and however we deem it necessary! After all, without a little risk, where’s the adventure? Emphasis will be upon generating a creatively ‘throw-away’ approach, iterative and progressive, where, if at the end of the day, the only thing that remains is a monstrous pile of slop, then that will be a success! There will hopefully be some ‘eureka’ moments for all, and exhaustion is guaranteed (in a good way).
